Physical Therapy That Puts You First

When pain or an injury starts changing the way you move, it can affect much more than exercise. Everyday things like getting out of a chair, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, working, sleeping, or keeping up with the activities you enjoy can suddenly become harder.

Your physical therapy should be just as individual as the reason you’re seeking care.

With private, one-on-one sessions, your time is focused entirely on you. We’ll take the time to understand what you’re experiencing, how it is affecting your life, and what you want to get back to doing.

FAQ: Top Questions About Physical Therapy in Oakland County, MI

What should I wear to physical therapy?

Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely and makes it easy to assess the area being treated. Athletic clothing is usually a good choice. Bringing a water bottle is also recommended.

How do I know if I need physical therapy?

Physical therapy may be appropriate when pain, weakness, stiffness, or an injury begins limiting the things you normally do.

Maybe knee or hip pain makes squatting difficult. Your back may start hurting after standing for a short period of time. Shoulder pain might make reaching overhead uncomfortable. You may also be recovering from an injury or surgery and want guidance as you return to normal activity.

If the way your body feels is changing the way you live or move, a physical therapy evaluation can help determine what may be contributing to the problem and what your next steps should be.

What happens during my first physical therapy visit?

Your first visit is about understanding you, not simply the location of your pain.

We’ll discuss what you’ve been experiencing, how it affects your daily life, what movements are difficult, and what you want to return to doing. Your movement, strength, mobility, and other relevant areas can then be evaluated to help develop a personalized plan for your care.

Is physical therapy only for injuries?

No. Physical therapy can address pain, weakness, mobility limitations, movement difficulties, orthopedic conditions, and recovery following an injury or surgery.

The goal is not simply to focus on where something hurts. It is to understand how your body is moving and help you improve the strength, mobility, and confidence needed for everyday life.

Do you take insurance?

We work for you, rather than allowing an insurance company to determine how your session is structured.

Your hour-long appointments are personalized around your needs and goals without insurance restrictions dictating your care. Superbills are available upon request at the end of each session, which you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Coverage and reimbursement vary by insurance plan, so we recommend checking your individual out-of-network benefits directly with your insurance provider.

What makes private physical therapy different?

Private physical therapy gives you something that can be difficult to find in a busy clinic: time and individual attention.

Instead of splitting your appointment among multiple patients, your session is centered around your symptoms, goals, questions, and progress. This creates a more personal experience and allows your care to evolve as you improve.
